Louisa Guinness Gallery is thrilled to announce "Maximalist | Minimalist : Silvia Furmanovich & Mr. Lieou" running from June 12th to June 26th. This exhibition juxtaposes the striking and powerful jewels of two renowned designers, Silvia Furmanovich and Mr. Lieou, each with their unique artistic language.
Silvia Furmanovich’s daring designs are inspired by her wide-ranging passions, fascination with the natural world, ancient cultures, and unusual materials. This week at the annual Couture show in Las Vegas, Furmanovich won the Editor’s Choice award for her 'Horse Mane' earrings. She discovered the horse mane technique during personal travel, and noted that, “Sometimes there is value in the things that you expect the least, but with effort and hard work it can become something beautiful.” We’re pleased to announce that Horse Mane pieces will be part of our upcoming exhibition and that Silvia Furmanovich will be attending the preview evening at the gallery.
Nicholas Lieou graduated from the Royal College of Art in London and started working for high-end jewellery houses. He started his own brand in 2019 which celebrates his Chinese heritage and international upbringing, with his design philosophy being an alchemy of East and West. In contrast to Furmanovich's pieces, Mr. Lieou's designs embody an aesthetic distilled from organic forms accentuated with sinuous graphic lines, evoking a sophisticated and moody vibe. Mr. Lieou's work creates a natural symbiosis between minimalism and maximalism, strength and fragility, and the masculine and feminine.
