A direct response to his large-scale installation in Trafalgar Square, Shonibare MBE’s 'Ship in a Bottle' Pendant features a scale replica of HMS Victory in its tiny bottle. The sails, made from African batik material, are symbolic of African identity and independence, a commentary on the interconnectedness of both past and present in a trans-national world.
